MMDS

Multi-channel Multi-point Distribution Service

A set of radio frequency bands originally designated by the FCC for broadcasting television using microwave signals. The FCC rules for MMDS have since been changed to allow high-speed data services (broadband) to be deployed using this spectrum.

MMDS includes bands near 2.1, 2.3, 2.5, and 2.7 GHz.

An MMDS base station (tower) can have a range of 30-35 miles.
