Educational Broadband Service
Relatively high-frequency radio bands originally set aside for "wireless cable" digital video services. BRS was intended for commercial services, while EBS was set aside for use by education and health care institutions.
This was generally not successful and the spectrum was repurposed for wireless broadband services such as Sprint's WiMax network.

This was also not successful, so the band was re-arranged into band 41, which Sprint then used for both 4G (LTE) and 5G (NR) service. After T-Mobile bought Sprint, they re-deployed it for their own mid-band 5G (NR) service in 2020.
