Verizon's national 4G network employs LTE technology in bands 4, 13, and 2, which are also known as the AWS (1700 MHz), Upper 700 (750 MHz), and PCS (1900 MHz) bands. Verizon now offers LTE-only phones, with an eye toward phasing out CDMA (2G/3G) soon. The company also offers 5G NR in band 261 (28 GHz, a mmWave band) in the central areas of a growing number of US cities.
