FTP

1. File Transfer Profile

A Bluetooth profile (mode) that enables a Bluetooth device to view a list of files on another Bluetooth device, and transfer files in either direction.

Not all Bluetooth devices support FTP.

Of Bluetooth phones that do support FTP, many only support the Server sub-profile, meaning they can make their files available to browse from another device, (such as a PC,) but they cannot browse the files of another device.

FTP is a sub-profile of the OBEX profile.

2. File Transfer Protocol

A standard for transferring files over the Internet. Not commonly used on phones, although there is FTP software available for most smartphone and PDA-phone platforms.
